Meet Penny

Penny McPherson at Port Logan, Galloway

I live now , with my photographer and musician husband, Graham, above the windswept shores of Luce Bay, in southern Scotland’s Galloway, close to where I was born.

Having been a teacher for many years, I am also an artist, and it is in communicating with others, through images as well as the spoken or written word, that I find inspiration.

With three adult daughters and a growing number of grandchildren, I believe that it is my relationships, both with the natural environment and with those closest to me, that are the heartbeat of my life.

My teaching also brings me into working with some students who are displaced from home, and I have had a life-long interest in how place and dislocation may impact on the individual and the stories that we all carry with us.

Who we are, at heart, is a reflection, partly of what the world has shown us, and partly of who we were ever meant to be… it is in our relationships that our melodies are found, each note’s resonance, each verses expression and cadence. The possibilities within the music are infinite!
